1. What is non phthalate plasticizer?
Environmentally-friendly PVC Plasticizers (Non-phthalate Plasticizers) ... DIC is working to develop plasticizers (non-phthalate) that accommodate usage restrictions for Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals and food utensils, containers and packaging, and toys.

2. What is non phthalate?
Non-phthalates are essentially plasticizers that are free of phthalates. A few examples of non-phthalates include DOTP (diethylehexyl terephthalate, aka DEHT), Hexamoll DINCH (diisononyl cyclohexane dicarboxylate), as well as bio-based plasticizers, such as a line of soy-based plasticizers.

3. What's wrong with phthalates?

In the past few years, researchers have linked phthalates to asthma, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, breast cancer, obesity and type II diabetes, low IQ, neurodevelopmental issues, behavioral issues, autism spectrum disorders, altered reproductive development and male fertility issues.

4. What are examples of phthalates?
Five of the most widely used phthalates are di-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), dibutyl phthalate (DBP), di-isononyl phthalate (DINP), di-isodecyl phthalate (DIDP) and benzyl butyl phthalate (BBP). These phthalates have been assessed within an EU program on Risk Assessment for new and existing chemical substances.

5. What is non phthalate ink?
The most Popular & efficient ink used in the garment printing industry is phthalate free Plastisol ink. Phthalate free is opaque plastisol printing inks which contains PVC but free of phtalates. ... These Plastisol inks are for screen printing cotton, polyester, nylon, Lycra and Spandex.

6. Is phthalate free PVC safe?
Even phthalate-free PVC still isn't a safe plastic because of the other harmful chemicals often used during production. The Center for Health Environment and Justice names the following possible concerns with PVC: May contain dioxin (a known carcinogen) May contain volatile organic compounds (VOC's)

7. Can phthalates be absorbed through skin?
Skin absorption of phthalates as 'significant' as inhalation. A group of American, Danish and German researchers say they have shown experimentally that absorption of phthalates from the air, via the skin, is just as important as inhalation.

8. What foods are high in phthalates?

The review of the literature revealed that poultry, some dairy products (cream) and fats are routinely contaminated with high concentrations of DEHP than other foods. Milk, yogurt, eggs, fruits, vegetables, pasta, noodles, rice, beverages and water were found to contain low concentrations of phthalates as a whole.

9. Are phthalates banned in Europe?

Because of their potential effects on human health, the European Union has banned the use of six specific phthalates in products for children. ... Also, some manufacturers might now use other types of phthalates which have not been banned in consumer products.

10. How do plasticizers work?
Plasticizers are organic liquids or solids that are incorporated by melt processing or diffusion into a compatible polymer to reduce interaction between molecules and improve molecular mobility.
